The vase is sculpted from an old growth Ponderosa pine tree – about 150 years old – that fell many years before I found it, then cured nicely on the steep, rocky, and sunny dry hillside. Years of weathering in the wind, rain, snow, and sun gave the wood a rough gray black exterior that resembles bark, but the bark itself fell off years ago. Some of that rustic exterior has been preserved to add character to the art.
… A smooth and glossy shellac like finish protects this vase so it can hold and display anything but liquids or moist items. However, the plastic insert that I have included protects the vase from water damage.
Care of your Valuable Art piece:
1. The beauty of your art piece will best be maintained by periodically gently removing dust, and occasionally buffing it with a very light furniture polish.
2. As for all wood art, it should NOT be displayed in direct sunlight (no wood likes direct sun) because strong light will fade its rich colors, of course some wood colors inevitably change some over time.
3. Display this treasure where it will be protected from chemicals and moisture.
