Unfortunately, due to a website technical issue, only one item can be included in a cart/order at a time and still have the shipping costs work properly.  If you are buying more than one item, please place multiple orders.  However, sometimes multiple items can fit in one box.  If you contact me prior to placing orders for two or more items, I may be able to set up a way for you to save on shipping costs.  ---  Thanks for your patience!  Bob

Commissioned art -- Custom and personalized orders

Custom and personally commissioned orders are my favorite (from my salvaged wood or yours)! It is exciting to combine my creativity with your special interests (and creativity) and know the final product will be especially dear to you. Just email or call and describe what you want. I may even have some "raw" items and/or some "almost ready" items that interest you. We can explore the items via Zoom if you wish. Custom orders are exciting! I'd be happy to work with you. Also, unless the custom item has something about it that is very different from what someone else may want, my normal return policy is available. Let's talk about what you want.

Shipping

I ship orders as soon as possible but please do look at the item's written description to see if there are special shipping considerations since size, weight, or fragility may affect processing and delivery time. Also, holidays, weather, and unexpected events (and trips) may make preparation &/or shipping times longer than stated. If you have questions, please email me.

Shipping costs:  During check out you may see a special "Call for $ shipping quote" notice in the Shipping section for your order.  This pertains to items that are extra heavy and/or large.  Depending on where you live and specifically which item you are buying, I may be able to get you a much better shipping rate.  Please do call.  I'd love to save you some money.

Local Pick up: BEFORE BUYING, people in the Portland, Oregon, area who wish to pick up their art in person must contact me via email (or 503-307-8292) BEFORE PURCHASE so I won't ship it and you won't be charged for shipping.  Also, when an item is reserved this way, you have a chance to see and feel the item before making a final purchase decision.  International customers be aware that shipping costs to your location AND your country's duty/VAT fees are YOUR responsibility. I do NOT pay those fees.

Unfortunately, due to a website technical problem, only one item can be included in an order at a time.  If you are buying more than one item, please place multiple orders. Call or email me if you have questions.

Care of your art piece

Not all art items require the same care.

See the specific item’s "Description" for its care in case it varies from the following.

In general, the coatings I use to protect my art vary based on wood species and their expected use. However, most items are protected with many coatings of a durable, satin, low reflection oil-based varnish (except the areas that may come in contact with food, whose final coat is a usually a food-safe wax or oil). After the sealing coat, I apply a special blend of beeswax, Brazilian carnauba wax, mineral oil, and orange oil.
1. Most items’ beauty is best protected by dusting with a soft vacuum brush and, for some, buffing with my recommended wax.
2. As for all wood art, do NOT display it in direct sun. Strong light fades rich colors (though some colors may change over time).
3. Display away from chemicals, moisture, and high heat.
4. Wood for each item was cured until it reached a moisture content like most homes. Holes and natural cracks have either been filled or incorporated into the sculpture's design. Occasionally, over time, cracks may appear or change since home and office humidity levels vary considerably.
5. Questions? Please email me: rcpaulson@msn.com.

Art size

Each art item's size is listed and quite accurate but may vary slightly (rarely more than half an inch difference, depending in part on how irregular the piece is).  If exact size is critical, feel free to contact me and I can verify the accuracy of what I've listed.

About Bob

I’m driven to create and obsessed with finding the RIGHT exotic wild salvaged wood.

My motto:
Protect the environment as though your life depends on it!

Welcome.  Thank you for visiting.  I love creating rustic to refined wild-wood art that instantly elicits a viewer’s “WOW!”

I began creating wood art in 1970 and selling my unique creations in 1991, but I have always been exploring the beauty, peace, solitude and challenges of nature and wild places.

My artistic goal is to pull magic out of each specially selected wood piece by revealing its inner and outer uniqueness and finishing it as an elegant and captivating item worthy of becoming an heirloom.

Hunting for unique raw wood pieces for my artistic sculptures and containers intrigues me.  My exotic art rises from salvaged trees (snags, driftwood, blowdowns, plus fire and storm damaged trees). As a sculptor, I seek one-of-a-kind raw-wood pieces with rich color, and dramatic, irresistible shapes.

I grew up on a farm in Minnesota and have lived in many states and Ghana, West Africa, but my home since the 1970’s has been the beautiful Pacific Northwest of the United States, now near Portland, Oregon.

From childhood to 80+ years, I have loved nature. Eventually, that love drew me to earn a bachelor’s degree in biology, then a master’s in educational media, which built on my love of photography and art.

Besides the art pieces you can see here, I have dozens of exotic pieces in three Oregon art galleries: RiverSea Gallery, Astoria, OR   -------  Rowboat Gallery, Gleneden Beach, OR.  -------  Toriizaka Art Gallery, Sisters, OR.  I invite you to visit them. They have exquisite art.  You can also contact me if you would like to see a listing and photos of my art pieces that are in those galleries.

Also, since shipping costs have skyrocketed, free Local Pickup is available in the Portland, Oregon, area, which is particularly good for bulky items.  That also gives you an opportunity to inspect and feel items before finalizing a purchase.  For pickup, BEFORE YOU ORDER, please call me at 503-307-8292 (or email me at rcpaulson@msn.com) to make an appointment.

Please do contact me if you have questions.
